Dr Tom Peat is a Senior Associate at Hawkins & Associates specialising in forensic investigation involving root cause analysis and the provision of expert witness services to the insurance, legal, risk management and commercial sectors.

Since joining Hawkins in 2017, Dr Peat has investigated around 400 cases involving fires, explosions, escapes of fluid, and engineering failures. Dr Peat has led investigations ranging from small domestic claims to large multi-million-pound losses in the UK and internationally. He has produced expert reports for Pursuers and Defenders and has given evidence in the Sheriff Court.

Dr Peat is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer and a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
