Capt. Saumitr Sen is a Master Mariner with command experience on board merchant ships. He
obtained additional chartering qualifications and became a member to the Institute of Chartered
Ship Brokers(ICS-London) and also obtained diploma from Chartered Insurance Institute (CII-UK).
Capt. Sen joined W.K Webster & Co. Ltd in 2007. Prior joining WKW, Capt. Sen was at sea for over a
period of 15 years serving on various types of merchant ships including crude and product tankers,
car carriers, bulk carriers, general cargo (tween deckers), heavy lifts and also commanded container
ships.
Capt. Sen is a Younger Brethren of Trinity House which in addition to other aspects is a consulting
body to UK Government and Admiralty Court. Since joining W.K Webster, he has often investigated
several maritime casualties including reviewing of electronic evidence e.g. VDR ( Voyage data
recorders) and given his opinion on matters related with collisions, groundings, salvage cases ,
charter party disputes etc. At WKW he deals with Hull & Machinery; P&I claims and opinion work in
maritime cases.
