Following a career at sea, Alan has worked in the ports industry for over 20 years in Municipal, Trust and Privately owned ports, initially as a Marine Pilot and latterly Harbour Master. Since 2016 this has been with Forth Ports Ltd as Chief Harbour Master and also as a Director of Forth Estuary Towage. As Chief Harbour Master Alan has the statutory responsibility for all of Forth Ports locations, which include the Forth Estuary, Port of Dundee and Port of Tilbury on the Thames.
