Marlena Truszczynska is Director and Head of Shipping Claims at Tysers Insurance Brokers in London. She began her marine insurance career with The Norwegian Hull Club in Bergen, Norway, where she spent more than a decade progressing from Claims Adjuster to employee representative on the Board and, ultimately, Vice President Claims, overseeing the Club’s London office. In these positions, she was responsible for shaping the Club’s strategy, the proactive management and settlement of a wide range of marine claims, providing clients worldwide and the Club with legal, strategic, and adjusting expertise on the most complex cases.

At Tysers, Marlena leads the Shipping Claims teams globally and is actively involved in mentoring colleagues and delivering market knowledge sharing initiatives. With her adjusting and claims background, Marlena also supports product development and creates bespoke policy wordings, working closely with placing teams.

Alongside her professional responsibilities, Marlena is a lecturer for Cefor (The Nordic Association of Marine Insurers) and IUMI (International Union of Marine Insurance) – Masterclass in Hull, a programme she established in 2025. As for her education background, she is a linguist and a lawyer. Privately, a proud mother of two, passionate about psychology, communication, and fostering strong industry relationships.
